[Stephen]: Why your video chat system needs a sever Red5, Wowza or FMS?
[Tatiana]: Video chat system is an online Flash application which is based on the server platforms Red5, Wowza or FMS. Both of the servers support chat running.
FMS - Flash Media Server, is a Product of Adobe Systems Incorporated.
WMS - Wowza Media Server, is a Product of Wowza Media Systems.
Red5 is open source software, you can use it for totally free.
The relationship between video chat system and Red5/FMS/WMS is simply like the relationship between PHP web page and Apache web server. PHP web pages need Apache web server to perform. Video chat system needs Flash Server to perform too. You can choose the free Flash Server Red5 or the charged Flash Server FMS/WMS.
